Personal Devices Used For Work
Employees are not required to use their personal cell phones for any work-related purpose. Communications with the office for any reason may be handled by land-line phone or email. Employees who elect to use their personal cell phones, smartphones, tablets or laptops (“devices”) for work purposes do so voluntarily and not because of any Company policy or requirement. However, to protect the Company, its employees and clients, any use of a personal device for work purposes must conform to this policy as described below. In addition, employees are responsible for using their personal devices in a sensible, productive, ethical, and lawful manner. This policy applies to the work performed on a personal device on the Company’s behalf during working and nonworking hours at any location.
If you use your own device for work, the device must be password-protected. Make sure that no confidential client information is downloaded to or transmitted to or from that device. Employees are required to have some kind of remote “wipe out” application on their device in the event that the device is lost or stolen. If your device is lost or stolen, you must immediately notify your Supervisor or any Manager so that the Company may assess the risks and, if necessary, instruct you to remotely wipe the entire content of the device, including not only confidential Company and client information, but also your personal content, in the Company’s sole discretion. The Company will not be held liable for erased or lost personal content housed on the device. Any software residing on the device should not interfere with normal operation of Company-owned resources and must be properly licensed. Company is not responsible for any physical damage, loss or theft of the device. Internet usage or texting charges on a personal device are not the responsibility of the Company. You have the duty to delete all company contacts and proprietary information (including any client contacts) upon separation or termination of employment with the Company. You must promptly provide the management with access to your device when requested or required for the Company’s legitimate business purposes. Company will not request information from your personal device except in the context of a workplace investigation and to provide assurances of your compliance with Company policies.
