Cancellations
“Going the extra mile for those who have gone the extra mile” is a slogan that we take very seriously at ComForCare. Thus, it is very important that cancellations and schedule changes are kept to a minimum. You must notify the office at least 4 hours prior to an assigned shift - anything less is considered untimely notice. If you contact the office with less than a 4 hour notice that you are unable to work, this may be deemed an unscheduled absence. Notice of cancellation or call off must be conveyed by a phone conversation. Notice of cancellations or call offs MAY NOT be conveyed by text or email. You must actually speak to the appropriate supervising employee.
Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action and the issuance of a live check that can be picked up at the office. Any employee who does not work all scheduled assignments will face disciplinary action, except in the event of an emergency or a protected absence that you can support with documentation. If you are canceling an assignment after normal business hours, follow the instructions on page 62 of this Handbook under “Urgent Call Protocol.” If you do not receive a return call from the on-call scheduler when changing or canceling a shift after hours, assume that the message has not been delivered and continue to call every 10 minutes until you receive a call back.
