Except for those employees who are working a 24-hour + shift, the Company expects all employees to remain awake while on assigned shifts. Sleeping during an assigned shift that is less than 24 hours is not acceptable unless previously approved by a supervisor. This will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
Employees who work on 24-hour + shifts will be provided a regularly scheduled 8-hour sleeping period, as well as decent and sanitary sleeping quarters. If an employee does not feel the sleeping quarters are adequate, he or she must notify the Supervisor or Manager immediately. If client interruptions prevent the employee from getting 5 consecutive hours of uninterrupted time for sleep, then the whole 8-hour sleeping period will be paid. If the employee gets 5 consecutive hours of uninterrupted time for sleep, but is interrupted by the client at other times during the sleeping period, then the employee will be paid for the amount of time spent on such client interruptions. Employees must record the start and end time of their sleeping period on their time card, as well as the nature and length of any client-based interruptions.
